Who am I

Well, I've been quite reluctant to actually start posting my poems, because a friend of mine advised me to perhaps get my poems copyrights. So no one will be able to claim them as theirs and stuff like that, and I agree too. But I'm just going to go on and post one or two, while I sort out the copyright issue.

Who Am I

Who am I exactly?
Am I that guy in the mirror that I see?
Perhaps it’s the swag in my clothes that defines me
But if so, once stripped naked, do I lose my Identity?
Maybe it’s in the bottle that I choose to drink
I mean, it does control the way that I think
But once the alcohol is gone and I’m sober
What makes me different from all the others?
My friends often call me reckless, and many say I’m “cool”.
I often feel flattered, or am I just being a fool.
So who am I, really?
Can anybody tell me?
Then my identity must lie in the people that I hang with
They make me who I am, I’m sure of it
They used to call us “The Cool Cats”
But what’s left of me when the cats have been scattered
So, who am I actually?
Well, Il tell you, before the world continues to lie to me
I am a prince, you see!
For I am the son of the creator of all the earth and its splendor
I am the brother of the all sufficient Savior
I am a sheep belonging to the good shepherd, named Jesus Christ
Who is the truth, the way and the life
The King who died on his servants’ behalf
Because of the Great LOVE he had in his heart
I am the brother of the prince of PEACE
Whose glory, until eternity, shall never cease
He died for both you and me
And all he asks is that you and I believe
Who am I, you dare ask me...?
Well I’m a son of God, the ALMIGHTY

So many young people out there wouldn't know where to begin if you asked them the question;" other then your name(s), where you come from, and who your friends are, WHO ARE YOU?" So many people live their lives without ever truly understanding who they are. And it is because of this lack of belonging that so many young people do things to "fit in" somewhere. Stop trying to fit in, you are a child of a KING, and not the worst of sins you might have committed can separate you from his Love. (Romans 8: 37-39)
